Important Transport Canada Update
✈️ ATPL – Important Transitional Measure from Transport Canada *CAR 421.34 Transport Canada has confirmed that it will continue to accept Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) applications based on the previous regulatory requirements until March 31, 2026. 👉 This means candidates may still obtain an unrestricted ATPL under the current rules up to that date. 📌 As of April 1, 2026, the new CARs requirements will apply. In particular, applicants will have to meet the following requirement: Within the 12 months preceding the date of application for the licence, the applicant shall demonstrate, in flight or in a Level C or D full flight simulator, and on the ground, knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of pilot-in-command of a multi-engine aeroplane (other than a centre-line thrust configuration) that is required to be operated with a co-pilot, as defined in subsection (9), and that is equipped with instruments and equipment suitable for IFR flight by two pilots in controlled airspace. ⚠️ After March 31, 2026: Applicants who do not meet this new requirement may still obtain an ATPL However, their licence will be issued with a single-crew restriction 🎯 If you are working toward your ATPL, it may be strategically important to submit your application before the deadline.
