Course Information
The IATRA and ATPL exams cover similar material. The IATRA exam is a single exams with 50 questions. The IATRA exams tend to be generally less complex than the ATPL exams. The IATRA exams is can be written with less flight hours. The ATPL exams consist of two approximately 80 question exams and are generally more in-depth and complex questions. The required flight hours to write your ATPL exams are significantly higher. For specific licence requirements click here. The AeroCourse ATPL seminars cover the material required for both the ATPL and IATRA exams.
If you are working towards your INRAT exam you might find it beneficial to take our IFR Ground school seminar. The comprehensive IFR Ground school seminar is designed to lead students in a logical progression through the steps and knowledge necessary to carry out an IFR flight and is available in-person or virtually and is a 3-4 day course. It is intended to help students prepare for the Instrument Rating INRAT exam and show pilots the practical world of instrument flying. This seminar provides a solid foundation in all the practical and theoretical aspects of IFR flight and is taught by highly-qualified training pilots. It is not only intended to help students prepare for the INRAT exam, but to understand IFR flight. Also of benefit is the 4-6 hour Online IFR Procedures Course is a great review of the basics areas of IFR flight (this online course is included with the comprehensive ground school seminar package). We also suggest purchasing our IFR Workbook as there are over 600 questions divided into six sections arranged based on subject areas as presented on the Transport Canada exams.
Once activated on the Faculty of Flight website the IFR procedures course is valid for 60 days. The student can review the course a maximum of 2 times. If not completed within the 60 days, the course is no longer available.
The major difference between the 3-day and the 5-day IFR Ground School Seminar is the speed in which the material is taught. and the depth an instructor can explore within a topic. The topics and material included is the same, however, due to the shortened number of days the course moves at a very fast pace The extra time in the 5-day seminar along with the week break between the seminar dates allows for students to go more in-depth with the concepts, prepare questions and take their time with the material.

In-person courses begin at 9:00 am and end at 5:30 pm in the course locations time zone. Virtual courses are held in Calgary time zone (Mountain Time) from 9:00 am MT and end between 4:00-5:00 pm MT depending on the course.
Please Note: Course times may vary if agreed upon by the class.
Lunch is not included in your fees. Usually the instructor will break mid-day for lunch for approximately an hour.
Some hotels offer discounts to our students for hotel rooms. Please contact the hotel directly and ask for the AeroCourse rate (if applicable).
We recommend registering for the course as early as possible – consider registering at least two weeks prior to the course start date to allow time to receive your books and complete the pre-study requirements to be prepared for the course.
Both seminars are facilitated by an instructor and cover the same material. Virtual courses are held on Zoom and are conducted over 4 days (two weekends) from 9:00am-5:00pm (MT). In-person courses are held over three days (Friday to Sunday – one weekend) and run from 9:00am-5:00 pm in the locations time zone.
We do not provide a tax form. Your receipt in some cases may be used as confirmation of employment training – a second copy can be sent upon request.
We recommend consulting your accountant to confirm if the receipt is applicable to your circumstances.

No, the Ground School Manual only accompanies a ATPL Ground School courses. The manual is included in the course price for our ATPL, SAMRA and SARON seminars.
Digital Books
We are pleased to provide digital access to our resources through our new AeroCourse App, available on the Apple App Store, and Google Play for android devices. Our books are able to be viewed on three devices; all notes and highlights will be saved and viewed on all devices. Our books can be accessed without internet, once downloaded through our AeroCourse App. If you are not using the app, they will only be available online through WiFi.
Digital books can be accessed on a maximum of 3 devices.
Please Note: When using a device on online vs the APP each browser used counts towards your device count. It is best to use one designated browser and to make sure that you are not clearing your history and cache as the system will think it is a new device.
If you receive the prompt “Your device limit has been exceeded”, please contact us at info@aerocourse.com. This issue may have occurred because:
- You have already logged into the maximum of 3 devices.
- You have logged into your account on multiple browsers or on a browser on your phone or tablet, or
- You have cleared your cache or browsing history causing the system to think it is a new device.
Each subscription is for 1 year.
Please Note: If purchased through our site your subscription is automatically renewed annually.
To cancel your automatic renewal, visit our website and login to your personal portal. Once in the portal you will see a list on the left side of the screen. Click on My Subscription to view all subscriptions. Find the subscription you would like to cancel and beside action, click the CANCEL button. You will still have access to the digital book(s) for the rest of the subscription period. Here is a video guiding you through the process.
In some sections, of specific books, there are pages that can be downloaded and printed for ease of use. The majority of our books content is covered by copyright laws and cannot to be printed or saved. It is a violation to reproduce or transmit any portion of our books by any process without written permission from AeroCourse.
AeroCourse has an informational video at the beginning of each book but can also be accessed here.
You can find this in the informational video. At the top of the screen click on the icon with three boxes and a line above and below it. All of the pages will display in a scroller at the bottom of the screen. At the top of that scroller you will find all saved bookmarks, highlights and notes.
International Licence Conversion
While we do not have a specific FAA conversion course most find the ATPL course provides the informaton needed for the FAA conversion.
Yes, we can ship books internationally, however, the cost is generally between $150-$300 Cdn. Please contact info@aerocourse.com with your request and we can confirm the additional shipping costs. Customers located outside of Canada can also purchase our digital books to eliminate the shipping costs.
Our ATPL and IFR courses can be beneficial for people converting international or FAA licenses. We hold 3-day in-person Ground School Seminars (ATPL and IFR) or 2-4 day virtual courses that will assist conversion pilots in obtaining the their licences in Canada. Our ground school seminars review the information needed and prepare pilots to write the SARON and SAMRA and or INRAT exams. Our seminars assist with the knowledge required and the preparation for written exams only. Any flight tests required are not available through AeroCourse, they are conducted by flight schools offering that service directly. Conversion pilots also find our workbooks beneficial in the studying process. For more information visit our international information sheet.
AeroCourse has been a leader in advanced aviation training for over 30 years. We have helped many international pilots gain their Canadian licences. Our instructors are Canadian airline pilots who are very familiar with needs and requirements of the Canadian airline industry. AeroCourse has a very high pass rate and are frequently recommended by past conversion pilots.
As an international pilot you will need to write your INRAT, SAMRA and SARON exams. As a FAA pilot you will need to write one conversion exam. To learn more please review our international information sheet.
You will need to contact Transport Canada to schedule your exams. Prior to scheduling your exam you will need to register with Transport Canada as well as possibly completed a Canadian medical. Once you are registered with Transport Canada you can schedule a write date. We suggest contacting them and confirming timing before attending the AeroCourse seminar. AeroCourse recommends writing your exam within 3 weeks after attending a course.
